| You know, like, my info! Name: Umemiya, Chieko. Age: 15. Gender: Female. Dorm/School: Osiris Red/Duel Academy Island. Year: 1st. Current Deck: Frogs. Ace Cards: Substitoad. Wetlands. Like, what do you mean? Description: Chieko is of average height, 5ft 2in, with light brown hair that’s thin and straight, and a fringe that parts either side of her face, with a bit falling over. Round her neck, she wears a thin metal choker. Looking at her directly, there always seems to be a distracted look: she’s just thinking about what to say. She looks like an airhead the rest of the time. Her uniform is typical for the academy, with a short-short skirt, a tight vest and jacket and a pair of boots. Her eyes are a dark brown. Personality: Chieko is a ditz - she spends a lot of her time sleeping or otherwise being spacey, and doesn't seem to know what's going on half the time. She could, like, maybe, like, speak a bit quicker. She’s also sort of cute, other than people calling her a total airhead. Her, "like, ums" can get a tad on your nerves. She sort of forgets what she was going to say mid-sentence, too. People mostly get annoyed by her spaciness but some think it’s cute - and pretty interesting if you read between the lines and realize she's faking it. And when she gets all confident… her plans have incredible details. He totally did that. History: Chieko comes from the city of Domino, home of Kaiba Corporation. She’s the only daughter of a family that owns a sports shop in the city mall. It sells a wide range of goods and was opened by her father, Iwao, who has been trading for several years. Chieko worked there during term, a few hours a week during her free time, to gain work experience and an allowance. Her mother, Hotaru, is a retail manager in a popular chain store. She earns a good wage, which means helping the family business would earn less money – and working away doesn’t take it out their pocket. But why is Chieko interested in Duel Monsters? She think the art’s “pretty”. Her father played the game, viewing it as a spectator sport, and saw it as a good way to teach her maths from an early age: except Chieko would pick up the card and gawk at it. Maths isn’t her best subject: nothing is when there’s homework. She can’t be bothered with silly academic subjects. She’s intelligent really, but lacks desire for revision. She’s not expected to take over the family business, so her father is making her think of her future once she graduates from university. A career. What’s the one thing she makes an effort in? Art. And who produces art for the card game? Industrial Illusions. Due to Japan’s love of baseball, and then football, tennis and other sports [outside of Duel Monsters, baseball is the most popular spectator sport in the country], Chieko’s parents earned just enough money to afford their daughter a place at the Academy. Chieko scored moderately in the written exams, lost the graded duel but got enough points to start in Osiris Red. This hasn’t pleased her folks, as they’re dissatisfied she scraped in at the lowest level. They think they’re wasting their money, and are threatening to pull her out if she doesn’t improve. ... like, totally a bummer. Extra Abilities: None whatsoever.
